Transformers: Age of Extinction One Step Changers Wave 1 (Drift, Grimlock, Optimus Prime)
Simple though these toys may be, I love the ones out so far.
One Step Changer Drift
Drift transforms by taking his rear wheels and pulling them to outeach side, swinging them 180 degrees. That’s it. Drift has a great car mode. Could do with a few more paint apps. For what it is, the robot mode is pretty great. The only real problem is that the chest doesn’t sit completely in the down position, so it obstructs his face a little bit. It is unfortunate, but the very fact that he is supposed to transform in one step means you can’t peg it in.
One Step Changer Grimlock
Grimlock sort of unfolds into robot mode. His dinosaur mode is pretty cool. Though it lacks the action features of the larger Grimlock toys, the mold is well detailed. His robot mode chest doesn’t look so great, but I like it otherwise. He is a bit top heavy, but I can forgive that due to the design limitations.
One Step Changer Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime is spring loaded. Press a button and he pops into robot mode. If not for his arms sticking out the back, his vehicle mode would be pretty great. Again though, considering the constraints of one step transformation, it could be a lot worse. Robot mode is okay, but if they had just painted some of the gray plastic blue or red, it would be a lot better.
Overall: You can’t judge them by the same standards as Deluxes, Voyagers, and Leaders. If you do they are garbage. I like these, but if you’re not a completist, there are better toys.
Thanks for reading!
