Transformers: Wendy’s Kids Meal Toys (Bumblebee, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Soundwave, Starscream, Windblade)

The Transformers Wendy’s Kids meal toys use the Transformers 2018 trade dress. They do not say Cyberverse on them. I would say they should be considered part of the Authentics line, but it doesn’t use the Authentics name either, so I consider them part of the generic Transformers 2018 line. These toys are very interesting. Each one consists of a hard plastic body that is very nicely painted and has a lot of molded detail. Each comes with thick cardboard arms and legs and thinner cardboard faces. There are two faceplates with a face on each side that are inserted through the top of the head. Each comes with at least one extra arm in a different pose.

There is a kids meal bag to go along with the promotion.

Bumblebee

Bumblebee comes with one set of arms for at his side, and another with his fists on his hips.

Megatron

Like Bumblebee, Megatron comes with one set of arms for at his side, and another with his fists on his hips.

Optimus Prime

Like Bumblebee and Megatron, Optimus Prime comes with one set of arms for at his side, and another with his fists on his hips. You may see a pattern developing. If I had one complaint it would be that they could have made them more unique.

Soundwave

And now the pattern is broken. Soundwave only comes with one additional arm, but it sticks straight out and has Laserbeak perched on it. I kind of wish Laserbeak was plastic, but that might be pushing it.

Starscream

Starscream only comes with one extra arm. I can only imaging that the size of his arm with the wing on it made it two large to include a second alternate arm. This one is giving a thumbs up which seems way out of character for Starscream.

Windblade

Like Starscream, Windblade only comes with one extra arm. She does however, also comes with an additional accessory. The yellow thing on the back of her head (I don’t know what it’s called) is also a piece of cardboard.

Overall: I find these interesting because the bodies are painted so much better than any other fast food Transformers I can think of. Obviously the cardboard arms and legs are inferior to plastic, but they do allow them to be drawn with much greater detail than they would have if they were plastic. While I can understand people not liking the cardboard, as a display item, these look way cooler than other fast food Transformers that are barely painted and or improperly colored. The packaging is actually pretty nice compared to what we usually get from McDonald’s. Now I just need to find the toy display.
