Transformers: Age of Extinction Walmart Exclusive 2-Pack Legend Optimus Prime and Scout Grimlock
It seems to have taken forever, but AOE Walmart exclusives have actually shown up in stores. There are three different Bumblebee and Stinger Legends (1-Pack, 2-Pack, and 3-Pack) and two Optimus Primes (1-Pack and 2-Pack). These are labeled in the toy comparison photos below.
Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime is a repaint of the RotF Legends Optimus Prime. I like this mold, and it’s nicely painted. I do prefer the 1-Pack version’s colors though.
Grimlock
Ten years (or so) after it’s original release, Transformers: Energon Terrorcon Cruellock returns as Age of Extinction Grimlock. Of course, he looks more like Godzilla from the Mathew Broderick Godzilla movie, but they did a nice job painting him. They seem to have glued on what used to be his Energon Crystal (I think that was what they were called). I forgot how lousy his hands are. You have to bend his arm out to the side for him to hold his sword straight due to the claws curling around his fists.
Overall: Grimlock is okay, but not the best of toys. I like the Optimus Prime, but the single pack version has a better paint job, so if you don’t need Grimlock you can skip this. Price wise, originally scout class toys were $5, but with the price changes over the years, $15 is probably reasonable, unlike the inflated prices of the Kmart exclusives.
